Finally
March 5, 2001 After causing a lot of pain and sorrow for web designer Miles Romney IV I've finally finished the images for his newest project signingstation.com. The images are all avaliable in my illustration section, so dig in.
Ever been under the impression that there's not enough games avaliable for the Mac? Believe me, you couldn't be more wrong. There are enough games for you to choke on, and to proove it I've just whipped up a couple of screenshots from games I've got lying around on my computer. Theese are just top-of-the-shelf games, plus a couple of Mac-only ones you just can't go over to your neighbour's house to play. So if you didn't buy a Mac because of the lack of games, it's time for serious regrets :)
Just tried the Wacom Graphire Tablet, and believe me, once you've experienced drawing with a digital pen, you don't ever want to go back to plain paper again. Head over to the illustration section to see the result.
"He got me invested in some kind of fruit company".
In a recent article for PC-only magazine sharkyextreme.com, John Simon writes: "Remember the command line interface? Remember when you had to play with IRQ and DMA settings then add lines to the autoexec.bat just to install a sound card? Remember when you wrote down phone numbers on paper instead of a PalmPilot? Remember when computers were ugly? Every successful feature of today's PCs and related products had to be invented somewhere (...) Shocking as it may sound, many things we take for granted in today's PC, including everything listed above, either started at or was proven successful at Apple Computer". Check it out!
A few days ago I was leased by a web designer to do some graphical work for him. He's allowed me to showcase the clip art-like icons at my site, so what are you waiting for? Drop by the illustration section and find out if they pleasure your eye.
Wanna know the real reason for me deciding to update the site? It was simply that I discovered that www.creations-ltd.com has been attracting a broader and a lot bigger audience lately. The reason for this is, for me, yet unknown, but I'm guessing the word finally got around.
If you've even got the slightest interrest in computers you've probably allready heard that Apple announced their next generation portable computer, the Powerbook G4, earlier today. This wonder is only one inch thick, packs a 15,1 inch widescreen display, two FireWire ports and a DVD drive. I won't go further into the specs here and now, but lets just say that it's 30% faster than the fastest Wintel porable computers on the market. And one more thing. It's made out of commercially pure titanium making it extremely light and incredibly beautiful. This is a computer every music lover, movie watcher, film maker, gamer (and CEO for that matter) just got to have.
Just finished updating the entire site for the new millennium. The "Copyright 2000-2001" is in place, and as a bonus I've restructured the entire file system of the web page to make it more manageable. Enjoy.
Today I officially quit as a "personal adviser" at the much mentioned high school. I won't go into detail about the reasons here, but they're not even half as bad as what the rumours want them to be. Anyway, I'd like to thank both the students and the teachers (and all the other employees for that matter) for a wonderful half year, and the best of luck to you all on the path you choose from here.
Since early october this web site has been floating around in some kind of twilight zone hell where not even the news have been updated. I could have served you a well proportioned lie where I told you that I've just been too lazy to update it, but that wouldn't be right. The truth is that as I was about to update the page, giant mutant rodents chewed over the power cable to my iMac. As I bent down to take a closer look at it, a burglar came in through the window and stole the computer and all my backup CDs. At the exact same time a nuclear missile rolled of a Pentagon transport lorry and detonated outside the location of the web server, leveling both the server and the rest of town with the ground. Since then I've been working on recreating the entire site and all it's contents, a time consuming operation requiring over three months to finish. Anyway, be prepared for a major news rush.
Since www.creations-ltd.com was introduced in late June this year, I've been getting a lot of feedback from the people who have found time to browse through my site. To show that I appreciate the feedback, I've just performed a rather extensive site update. Most of the work have been done beneath the surface by removing clutter from the HTML code. This was a pretty time consuming operation (and extremely boring, for that matter), but the site is now much faster than initially. I've allso reorganized some of the site contents (like deleting the 3D artwork section and moving the news section to the front page). And last, but not atleast, I've updated the navigation bar graphics (not a big difference, but it shows). If you have something on your mind (either about the site or it's contents), please let me know. It's people like you that makes the site worthwhile updating.
Allmost a week ago I was hired as a teacher (or as an assistant if you want to get technical) at a high school not far from where I reside. Concidering that I've just finished college and have no teaching qualifications what so ever, they must have been pretty desperate. But for 14 bucks an hour, who cares? Anyway, I'd like to say hi to everybody in the eight grade. I hope you'll be able to put up with me for the rest of the year, 'cause you'll be stuck with me untill then anyway :)
After over a year in IRC celibacy, I've finally decided to perform a personal revolution. From this day on, whenever I'm online, I'll be found on the "Undernet" server, in the channel "#ulsteinvikoggursken", with the nick "Brynjar" (since "HE-MAN" attracted a lot of gay people, and "Saddam" became impossible to use after he starred in "Southpark - Bigger, Longer & Uncut").
Apple have just made a six minute G4 Cube promotional video avaliable for the public, and I strongly recomend it to anybody with even the slightest interrest in industrial design. But I must warn you. The difference between looking at pictures of the Cube and actualy be able to touch it is as big as the difference between Pamela Anderson with or without make up.
I've found a temporary sollution for the mp3s, and they are now (once again) avaliable for you to download.
After noumerous complaints about long download times, I've finally taken action and transfered my page to a new and faster server. The new host is Eccentrix, and the page is now over twice as fast. Sadly Eccentrix doesn't allow the size of a file to exceed 900 kb, and this means that my music is left out in the cold. I'm notifying the webmaster about this issue as we speak, but untill it is clarified, the mp3s will be unavaliable for the public.
Just wanted you all to know that I'm turning 19 today. If you feel a sudden urge to shower me in money, please let me know.
As Steve Jobs, Apple's iCEO, entered the Macworld Expo 2000 stage earlier today, the stage was set for yet another revolutional Apple product line update. The entire keynote began with the introduction of a new pro keyboard and optical mouse. What's special about the mouse, except being the most accurate mouse on the market, is that the button has been removed. Yes, you heard me right. Instead, the entire surface of the mouse acts like the button. After a propper demonstration, Mr. Jobs went on revealing new multi processor G4s accomplishing Photoshop tasks twice as fast as 1000 Mhz Pentium IIIs. The new G4s will, in addition, feature one gigabit ethernet, not seen in any personal computer before. Allso the iMac line was heavily updated. The price is now more aggressive than ever, starting at $799, and the fruity colors have been replaced by the more macho colors indigo, sage, ruby, snow and, of course, graphite. As Steve Jobs was about to leave the scene of crime, he pulled the "one more thing" stunt. With an obviously satisfied voice he explained that it was time to extend the current product line. A table covered with a sheet was rolled onto the stage, and without hesitating, Jobs revealed the G4 Cube, the most beautiful object I've ever seen. On the table stood a mere 8 inch cube, dressed in white with a graphite colored Apple logo on the side and a clear polycarbonite stand lifting it 2 inches from the ground. This tiny computer, which mostly reminds of a toaster if a DVD disc rises from the top, is as fast as the so called "super computers" of the eighties, but yet only one fourth the size of today's PCs. Even so, that suddenly didn't matter anymore. As the shallow person I am, it was the looks I was after. Words just don't do it justice...
I'm proud to announce that, as of today, you can go to AltaVista, search for "Creations Ltd." or "Brynjar Saunes Bye", and actually find my page. Over 50 smaller search engines have allready added my page to their databases, but Altavista is the first major search engine to do so.
Today, Ulsteinvik was officially upgraded from town to city. With a population merely exceeding 6000, this might seem a little weird to the average world citizen. Infact, I'm living on a small farm in the city centre (technically that is)... Norway is a weird country.
After a long and well deserved vacation, it's time for a major news update. In the next few posts I'll try to give you both the more and the less important news of the past two months.
Namezero have resolved the server problem, and the brynjar@creations-ltd.com e-mail address is once again working great.
Did you know that you can actually make money while surfing the web? AllAdvantage have been around for a while offering such a deal. By placing an one inch ad strip at the top of your web browser, they pay you an hourly rate. In reality this means that you can get back most of what you spend on surfing, and at best even earn some money. It's avaliable both for the Mac and the PC, and they actually pay what they promise (opposite to other pay-to-surf services). I know it's kind of rotten, but if you don't mind, please put me (PFW-702) as your referal. This way we'll both earn money. Just a thought...
Server trouble
Namezero, the company hosting my e-mail account, have recently been experiencing a server malfunction. This has resulted in making brynjar@creations-ltd.com, amongst other e-mail accounts, temporary inactive. So if you want to contact me, please use brynjar@mac.com while the problems are being fixed.
In a recent interview, Trent Reznor, front character of Nine Inch Nails and producer of records like Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar, reveals that he's allways had a soft spot in his heart for Macs. "We've adopted a pretty purist attitude. There have been some software companies who develop PC-only software who've approached us -the people who make Acid, Sonic Foundry, for one. It may be a nice program, but I'm not going to endorse it if it doesn't run on a Mac, and I told them that", he says. "Even if it does run on Virtual PC, I tell them, 'Wake up and do the right thing.'". He adds: "With Web integration stuff, there have been companies that are like 'use our player' but it only runs on a Windows machine, and I'm like, 'No, I'm not going to help the enemy'".
What's cooking?
As a result of my constant need to brag, I've created a couple of teasers for my current projects. I won't elaborate that to any extent here, since the space is fairly limited. So just watch out for them as you browse the page.
In a rather modest seremony earlier this morning, where the URL was submitted to allmost 150 search engines, the Creations Ltd. web site was launched to the public. Despite the fact that some of the preview graphics is still unavaliable, and that the contents of the frontmost page (the index) is completely absent, the decision was made due to a phenomenon allso known as summer holiday. |
