The earlier anatomy, histology & embryology exam was a TRUE monster. It was the dividing line between ordinary medical students and future medical doctors, and it used to be the only exam here at this medical school that would shake students to their very core every single time it's name was spoken out loud. Due to this common conception, few students before me had ever tried to write a complete set of exam notes spanning all the sciences presented in this exam - and most of the ones that tried had failed miserably doing so. By the time I entered the dissection room for the first time, this fear for the anatomy, histology & embryology exam had resulted in a torrent of exam notes of such an unacceptably poor quality that every single new student that entered the anatomy department had no other choice but to start from scratch and do the tedious pioneer work all over again.
I wish that I could have told you that my anatomy, histology & embryology exam notes were the first COMPLETE set of anatomy, histology & embryology exam notes here at this medical school. But wishes rarely coincide with reality. Truth is that one of the sets of exam notes being made available here (Kovacs' Notes) had already been written close to perfection by talented students long before my time, and I basically found myself incapable of writing something better. Yet another set of exam notes being made available here (Histology, 1st Semester) became so seriously molestated due to the lack of time that they ended up becoming almost completely useless. However, my anatomy, histology & embryology exam notes are still the closest anyone has EVER gotten to write a complete set of anatomy, histology & embryology exam notes, and the exam notes that turned out the way they were intended are to this day some of the very best exam notes ever to come out of this medical school.

These exam notes also represented a defining moment for me as a student, because they proved to me that I was stubborn enough to write a set of exam notes even if it was a complete waste of time. Gross anatomy is not meant to be learned by writing, but by admiring the beautiful art of Frank H. Netter, MD over and over again until everything falls into place. Though the bones & joints exam notes have become a valuable study tool for many students here at this medical school, this set of exam notes is probably the only set of exam notes that should never have been written. The feat of me being able to write such readily understandable embryology first semester exam notes did not depend on myself as much as it did on pure stupid luck. While the vast majority of the students before me had been wasting their time trying to decifer the default book recommended by the anatomy department, I stumbled across a copy of a copy of a book so old that it was literarily written on a typewriter. However, this book succeded in every single last aspect where the default book failed, and this elevated the embryology first semester exam notes to a level of clarity and simplicity never seen before here at this medical school. Not only was the amount of information contained within neuroanatomy as a science ridiculously excessive compared to the comma the subject itself represented in the context of the entire anatomy, histology & embryology exam, but there was also a suspicious void of any other exam notes written by other students here at this university that potentially could have aided me in my writing. This caused me to rely on nothing but the lectures and pure intuition when trying to figure out the correct answer to each separate question. However, the neuroanatomy exam notes turned out surprisingly competent despite their obscure origins, and they are still the primary study tool for many students here at this university when studying for their neuroanatomy exam.
