Ghost in the Shell

When Mednotes.net was first coded closer to 2 decades ago, the internet was a much simpler place. One of the quirks back then was that most mainstream web browsers didn't understand foreign language accents, symbols, and punctuation. I therefore had to use specific codes to force these web browsers to display such characters.
However, as the web has evolved, these codes are mostly no longer needed. A side effect of this is that several browsers now display these codes in clear view, making text in best case untidy and in worst case plain unreadable.
So, while I've been at it, I've sifted through every last corner of this web site correcting all those pesky typographical errors as well as a plethora of other minor code slip-ups.
Now let's hope the web site will hang in there for the next couple of decades as well!

Down and Up Again

Seven years ago my web hosting service kindly informed me that the old server which Mednotes.net was located on was about to be retired. A fresh server space had already been set up for me on their brand new server, and the only thing I had to do was to move the web site there.
However, the old server kept on churning one more year, and two more years, and three more years, and slowly the urgency of moving servers faded into obscurity. That is, until the old server finally took a bow earlier this fall.
I've been blissfully unaware of this for some time now until I recently discovered that the web site had lost top rank on Google for the first time in almost 10 years!
I now have done what I should have done many many years ago, and the web site has finally found its permanent new home on the new server. Now l can only pray that Google has mercy on my soul!
And a MASSIVE thank you to Drávanet for keeping their old server online for a full 7 years past its due date!
